Abstract

Nature presents amazing feats of chemistry by producing natural compounds which have huge structural diversity. The study of natural product chemistry has principally evolved around the chemistry of bioactive phytocomponents. It involves chemical characterization, isolation of bioactive components, structure determination. Understanding this chemical diversity requires proper classification and analysis to evaluate their chemical characteristics which is correlative with their bioactivity. The article presents the chemical composition of plants belonging to the family ASTERACEAE. Humidity, ash content, inulin and pectin substances of dandelion, Jerusalem artichoke, Dahlia, chicory, and burdock plants were determined. The results of the analysis of the study of inulin and pectin substances of wild crops are presented. As well as applications of inulin and pectin substances.
